Cooper Construction has built four projects for Upward Christian Fellowship in Flat Rock, North Carolina.

The first was the original building, 18,000 square feet, 120 by 150 feet and two stories, on 26 engineered column footings, with 43 insulated windows, 2,104 square feet of facing stone on the prominent walls, and an elevator pit roughed in for a lift the church did not need yet.

The sanctuary renovation came later. Cooper took out the rear wall, built a new entrance lobby and an audio-visual booth, added walls on either side of the pulpit platform to hold the sound, and extended the platform. The AVL contractor was brought in during the work rather than after it.

A restroom renovation followed: new drywall assemblies, acoustical ceilings, tile, custom millwork with quartz countertops, new doors, 72 inch toilet partitions, HVAC modifications, LED lighting, plumbing and a new fire alarm panel.

The fourth project was parking. 250 spaces across 6.75 acres, with clearing and grading, erosion control, stormwater management, curbing, stone base, paving, marking, sidewalks, stairs and railings, and seeding.

Cooper also built the church's on-site wastewater system and held the HVAC on the remodel with exhaust fans, louvers and gas piping.

The original building was finished in 2005 and Cooper has been back for further work as recently as 2026.
