Industry

Project Location

Sylva, NC

Project Scope

8,192 SF Addition, 4,520 SF Renovation

Cooper Construction expanded the fire station for the Town of Sylva, North Carolina.

The station never went out of service. "The existing fire station had to remain in operation during the work," and Cooper "provided whatever the Fire Department needed to remain in operation throughout, and the Fire Fighters did not miss a beat."

Sylva was growing and its department was moving to full-time paid firefighters, so the station needed new truck bays and bunk rooms, plus a meeting room, a balcony, more storage and a kitchen. Cooper added 8,192 square feet of new construction alongside the renovation of the 4,520 square foot existing station. The building is Type II-B, fully sprinklered, two stories and forty-three feet tall. A photovoltaic system went on the building as well.
