Cooper Construction built the office and manufacturing expansion at Smith Systems on Selica Road in Brevard, North Carolina.

The plant ran its normal operations throughout. Claire Smith, the company's president, said afterwards that "we are very pleased with the extreme care that Cooper took with allowing us to function completely without intrusion by the construction crew in our work space."

The expansion is 13,450 square feet with the office space on two floors. Cooper had built an earlier addition on the same site in 2010. Smith Systems is privately owned and makes speed, motion and temperature sensors, along with the sensor controls, custom instrumentation and cable harnessing that go with them.
