Cooper Construction built Mills River Family Dental in two phases in Mills River, North Carolina.

The first phase started with raw retail shell in a shopping center. A dental practice needs compressed air, vacuum and filtered water lines run to every operatory, HVAC sized for operatory conditions, sprinkler integration and enough power for the equipment and the imaging. All of that went in before there was a wall to hide it behind, alongside the operatories themselves, consultation offices, sterilization, staff space and the patient areas. The upfit covered 2,800 square feet.

The expansion added four exam rooms with the practice open and seeing patients. Cooper phased the work and held infection control protocols throughout. That phase took out existing partitions, built an ADA ramp, set the owner's dental casework, ran shiplap accent walls, and modified under-slab plumbing and electrical, tying the new rooms into finishes and systems that were already there. The expansion is 1,070 square feet.
