Pool Replacement, Pool House and Pump House, Lake View Center Renovation, Site Work
Cooper Construction replaced the town pool at Lake Tomahawk Park for the Town of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and renovated the Lake View Center beside it. The contract gave Cooper 140 days for all of it, and both halves finished early: the pool 32 days ahead, the Lake View Center 15.
The new pool was built from the ground up: dug, poured, piped, and fitted with its pumps and equipment, ready to swim in. Early in the job, the Town changed it from a five-foot pool to an eight-foot pool, and the redesigned plans went in without stopping the job. Cooper also built a new pool house and a pump house finished in cultured stone.
At the Lake View Center, Cooper took down the old porch beams, set a new laminated beam on new posts, and rebuilt the porch roof with new trusses, decking, and shingles. Six new columns went up, faced in cultured stone with precast caps.
Site work ran alongside all of it: demolition, tree protection, fill, a pool drain, erosion control, fencing, paving, and regrading.
Cooper started on site in January 2009. The pool was ready on June 29 and the Lake View Center on July 16, and the park opened for the summer.
