Visit Hendersonville Welcome Center

Industry

Project Location

Hendersonville, NC

Project Scope

7,325 SF Renovation

Cooper Construction renovated the Visit Hendersonville Welcome Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina for the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority.

The second floor came out. Removing it opened the whole building into one volume under the existing steel trusses, which is what made the rest of the plan possible.

An interactive media wall went in to carry what the county has to show visitors. The TDA offices and the public areas were reconfigured so staff have security and visitors have access, and new exhibit spaces were separated out. The building runs to 7,325 square feet.

Cooper installed the HVAC, with Carrier equipment, a 6 ton cased coil, a gravity ventilator and an energy recovery ventilator.

Outside, an existing patio structure was removed and interior walls were selectively demolished for new glazing, which put daylight through the building and opened it toward the Ecusta Trail. The Welcome Center now connects the trail to downtown.
