Project Scope

11,592 SF Fire Station

Cooper Construction built Hendersonville Fire Department's Station 2 on Sugarloaf Road in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

The decontamination room is the part of the station worth describing. Chemicals and toxic soot get washed off turnout gear there without it ever mixing with bunkroom linens or clean gear. The room does a second job as well: a manhole cover and a narrow vent were built into it so crews can train for confined space rescue in the same space.

The station is 11,592 square feet and also holds turnout gear storage, a rehab and EMS room, a 304 square foot exercise room, logistics and general storage, and an apparatus bay with a maximum occupant load of 160.
