Grand Highlands Clubhouse

Industry

Project Location

Hendersonville, NC

Project Scope

11,900 SF New Build

Cooper Construction rebuilt the Grand Highlands clubhouse outside Hendersonville, North Carolina after fire destroyed it.

The original lodge burned shortly after midnight on Sunday, December 4, 2016. More than 100 firefighters from 20 departments across Buncombe and Henderson counties fought it, and the mountain itself was the problem: crews drained the water tank feeding the hydrants and had to switch to a water shuttle. Nobody was hurt. Two weddings booked for the following weekends lost their venue.

Cooper's replacement is 11,900 square feet on the original foundation, to the same footprint including the decks. It was detailed in Douglas fir timber with Andersen E-series windows and doors, and a covered patio decked in 5/4 pressure-treated boards.

Grand Highlands sits at the top of Bearwallow Mountain, up Bearwallow Mountain Road and onto Autumn Sky Drive.
