Project Location

Project Scope

8,408 SF Renovation

Cooper Construction renovated GE Current's Lighting Institute in East Flat Rock, North Carolina, turning the old Lamp Lighter Hall into a training center.

The interior came out entirely and went back new. What went in was a teaching auditorium, expanded classrooms, collaboration space and demonstration areas where installed lighting and control products can be shown working, with audio-visual infrastructure run through all of it.

Cooper installed the HVAC. Trane rooftop heat pumps went in on a curb adapter with exhaust fans, opposed blade dampers and new thermostats, set by crane, and the existing ductwork was cleaned before the space was handed over.

The renovation covered 8,408 square feet. Current brings customers and channel partners here to train on its full range, indoor, outdoor and roadway, including Daintree wireless controls.

Cooper's HVAC crew works the plant continuously. Since the Lighting Institute Cooper has replaced a 5 ton condensing unit and air handler, put a 2 ton mini split into the lab, and rebuilt the paint room HVAC.
