Cooper Construction Company, Inc. served as general contractor for the construction of the YouTheatre Education Center at Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, North Carolina. This project created an 8,512 square-foot dedicated education facility designed to expand the Playhouse's youth programming.

The two-story Education Center features specialized spaces including classrooms, a dance studio with spring flooring, a library with custom red oak millwork, and theatre education facilities. The building showcases high-quality finishes throughout, including poplar bark siding, quarter-sawn red oak trim and doors, ceramic tile in restrooms, granite vanities, and a premium HVAC system designed for optimal comfort during performances and classes.

Cooper Construction navigated site challenges including rock excavation and coordinated construction activities to minimize disruption to the Playhouse's ongoing theatrical productions. 

The completed facility, now known as Playhouse Jr. at Flat Rock Playhouse, provides year-round theatre classes, summer camps, and youth performances that engage, inspire, and empower young people through the theatrical arts. Cooper Construction later returned to provide design-build services for a 256 square-foot addition, further expanding the facility's capabilities.
