Cooper Construction built the manufacturing facility for Elkamet on Mills Street in East Flat Rock, North Carolina.

It was fast-tracked. Cooper priced it from a schematic, then designed it, with the price adjusted up or down as the design was finalized. Cooper showed Elkamet the subcontractor prices while the job was still being negotiated, so the owner chose its own subcontractors on experience and reputation.

The equipment was already on its way from Europe. The building is 40,000 square feet.

Under a separate contract Cooper built the site as well: clearing and grubbing, earthwork, stone base, curb and gutter, paving, stormwater drainage, the water distribution system and the sanitary sewer.
