Industry

Project Location

East Flat Rock, NC

Project Scope

24,233 SF Renovation & Addition

Cooper Construction rebuilt the East Flat Rock armory into a readiness center for the North Carolina Army National Guard in East Flat Rock, North Carolina.

The 163rd Area Support Medical Company and Detachment 1 of the 211th Military Police Company both ran their weekend training in the building while it was being renovated around them. Neither lost a drill weekend.

The finished building is 24,233 square feet, 16,500 renovated and 7,500 added, and holds an assembly hall, classrooms, administrative offices, fitness areas, a kitchen and storage. Cooper relocated the main entrance and added security features to current military standards while bringing the older structure up to code.

It is the North Carolina Army National Guard's first LEED Silver certified readiness center. Site work covered expanded parking and military vehicle storage compounds across the 5 acre property.
