Project Scope

10,080 SF Winery, 3,430 SF Tasting Room, 6,180 SF Restaurant

Cooper Construction has built four projects for Burntshirt Vineyards across two sites in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

The winery came first, on Taylor Road: 10,080 square feet where the wine is made, with a crush pad slab, barrel and bottling rooms and an office mezzanine. A twenty foot clerestory runs above it.

The 3,430 square foot tasting room followed on Sugarloaf Road, built to drawings the owner supplied. Then the Summit event center, and most recently The Vintner's Table, the winery's restaurant and wine bar. The restaurant runs to 4,380 square feet of indoor dining and 1,800 square feet of outdoor dining and event space, under heavy timber trusses with a stone fireplace and a wall of arched windows onto the vineyard.

Cooper also installed the HVAC, including two CaptiveAire exhaust hoods with matching fans and fire suppression, a walk-in cooler with a refrigeration package sized to it, and Trane rooftop units with heat pumps and gas furnaces. A commercial kitchen sets the ventilation requirements for everything around it.

Burntshirt farms 9 acres on Burntshirt Mountain and another 30 at the Hendersonville site.
