Cooper Construction prepared the ground for the baseball field at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, North Carolina, in 2002.

The college split the field among three contractors: one for the site, one for the playing field, and one for the buildings. Cooper had the site. That meant the work that has to be finished before a ballfield can go in: the water line, erosion control, rough grading to the architect's contours, and the storm drainage that carries rain off the field.

With three contractors on one site, each crew was waiting on the one before it. Cooper signed on May 3, 2002, and on June 26 reported its part 100 percent complete and handed the site over to the field contractor.
