Industry

Project Location

Flat Rock, NC

Project Scope

3,100 SF Expansion

Cooper Construction is proud to have completed the 3,100 square foot addition to the existing 65,400 square foot Spearman Building at Blue Ridge Community College. This newly constructed masonry structure features new automotive bays and a paint booth, enhancing the college's facilities.

The project scope included the demolition of existing restrooms and wall openings, as well as the construction of new gang restrooms, a storage room, and automotive bays equipped with overhead doors. It also involved the installation of new plumbing fixtures and associated piping, a compressed air system, natural gas piping, exhaust fans and ductwork, radiant heaters, and new lighting, receptacles, and cord reels.

Sitework involved the installation of new underground utilities for the building, an oil and water separator, fine grading, and hardscaping. The addition supports Blue Ridge Community College's collision repair, refinishing, and welding programs.

The design incorporated infrastructure enhancements such as electrical upgrades, high bay lighting, IT installations, and safety features, including eyewash stations and air compressors. This renovation aims to improve the supply of trained vocational workers in Western North Carolina.
